Filigree and Mexico's unique jewelry

After Spain conquered Mexico, precious-metal filigree was imported to be used for liturgical purposes in church sacristies, as time passed friars taught indigenous people filigree-making techniques that in time, were employed to make jewelry for personal adornment until they were used almost exclusively for that purpose.

This technique is recognizable for its delicate pattern and elaborate designs made from strands of metal mostly gold and silver.
